RECIPE BOOK. In the hot climate of Belize, beverages become very
important. Fruit drinks are quite popular because of the
availability of such a variety of fruits year round and
because of their good taste and ability to quench thirst.
Alcoholic drinks are also popular and can be made from most local fruits. Belize, like other West Indian Islands, has a chief fuddling they make known as rum bullion from sugarcane they distill. It is a very hot and sharp liquor. Rum has now taken its place beside the other sophisticated spirits like whisky, vodka, gin, etc. All rums leave a still colorless liquid. Belizeans form the various ethnic groups also produce rum from corn, other grains and fruits such as the cashew. |
