| TEETHING COOKIES |
| INGREDIENTS 2 tsps molasses 1 tsp. water 3/4 cups flour 1/4 tsp salt 1 tsp vanilla 1 egg yolk unbeaten 1/4 cup dry milk 1/2 cup baking powder |
| METHOD: 1. Combine molasses, vanilla, and water. 2. Add egg yolk, and mix well. 3. Combine dry ingredients and add to egg mixture, mixing all thoroughly. It should be dry and crumbly, somewhat like cornmeal. 4. Pressing dough together with hands, make a ball. 5. Roll out on wax paper to about 1/4" thick, pushing edges of dough together to keep it in shape. 6. Cut into bars 1" x 2 1/2" and place on greased cookie sheet. 7. Bake in oven 350°F for 15 mins, then lower temperature to warm 140°F for 8-10 mins. 8. Then open oven door slightly and let cookies set in oven for 30 mins more. Yield: 10 bars 1" x 2 1/2". Keep in tightly closed jar. VARIATION: For baby unable to eat egg, omit egg yolk and add 1 tbsp. more water |
