Some of these Traveling Tips are brought to you through the courtesy of the Belize Tourism Board They are here to serve as a means for your own
protection and are useful tips no matter where in the world you travel with the exception of the tips that particularly relate to Belize Taxi
services. Please read and take them with you wherever you go.
For your information, BTB has provided us with Belize Tourist Police Force. They are
especially stationed in areas that our Tourists frequent. We hope this helps to add to the pleasure of your trip to Belize!
- Familiarize your self with a map or other tourist information upon arrival. Be sure of your destination and have a clear idea of how to get
there before departing.
- Always be aware of your surroundings and keep to the main streets if you have to walk. Avoid walking alone.
- Belize is a tropical country, be sure to bring along sunscreen, flip flops, tennis shoes, a wide coverage hat, fly repellant, benadryl (or some other allergy type medication in case you have an allergic reaction to any insect bites), sunshades.
- Do not wear jewelry or precious metals openly. Do not carry large amounts of money, passport or plane tickets if not necessary. Instead, leave
them in the safety deposit box provided at your hotel's front desk. Most hotels provide this service.
- When dining out or exploring Belize's night life - take a taxi between locations. Throughout Belize, taxis can be identified by their green
license plates.
- In Belize City taxi prices are not always set. Ask your receptionist, bus driver or other service personnel for directions and taxi prices before proceeding to your next destination. Also clarify with taxi that the price is in BELIZE dollars.
- Cameras and binoculars are best and most safely used when moving with large groups.
- If driving, be certain to lock doors and keep windows up. Keep valuables in the trunk or glove compartment. Never pick up strangers.
- In the rare event that a stranger approaches you and demands your valuable items, do not resist. Your safety is more important than your belongings.
- When traveling by public transport, keep a close eye on your belongings at all times.
- Should you ever become involved in an emergency situation, please dial 911 immediately for assistance.
